Caring for an old person with disability can be challenging. The person's needs and wishes might change. You might have a disability too. This guide has ideas about support you can get from the government.

You may be able to get support:

  • looking after their home
  • to pay for equipment like a walking frame or a raised toilet seat
  • to see allied health workers, like a physiotherapist or occupational therapist
  • for respite care, which is when someone else looks after the person you care for while you take a break.

The guide has links to helpful services and ways to connect with other carers.

On Our Health Space, we use the word "old" instead of "older" or "ageing". This is because "old" is easy to understand.
